The study found that a total of 731 women, and 447 men, used a physical activity book to learn how to lift weights.
While women spent longer in the gym, the men did more of their time doing a variety of cardio exercises, like walking and jogging.
The men also exercised more than women.
As you might expect, the exercise book was rated as the best exercise book for women, followed by strength training, and finally cardio.
The research showed that women who read a physical exercise book were better at weight lifting than those who did not.
The study also found that women also had a higher body fat percentage than men, which was correlated with lower strength gains and a lower muscle mass gain.
